Welcome to the Newport Yacht Club

The goal of Newport Yacht Club is to foster a progressive sailing and boating experience   for its members.  The City is an important part of what we do and who we are - all residents, families and individuals are welcome be a part of the Newport Yacht Club.   During our summer season NYC partners with the City in hosting the Tall Ships, Narragansett Bay regattas and maritime events.  Our weekday sailing series is open to all sailors on the Bay and competion is fierce and fun  Newport Yacht Club has a proud tradition of hosting and staffing international events as well as housing international yachtsmen and women.  Once again we were pleased to once again be the lead in the Bermuda ONE TWO race.

We host a number of maritime clubs that support the City and more importantly residents and families that are active on our waterfront and Narragansett Bay.  The US Power Squadron  and Newport County Saltwater Fishing Club have access to our facility throughout the year.  The Seaman’s Church Institute is our principal philanthropy – whether it is “Soup on the Dock” for the fishing fleet or the annual fund raiser we are a part of the SCI support system.

NYC is involved in junior sailing in a number of ways.  We are home to the Rogers High School Sailing team and of course our junior sailing program that is open to all NYC members and the community.  We are proud to announce a new partnership with the Newport Housing Authority as we extend our summer junior sailing program to residents through five scholarships for our summer sailing program.

Membership activities at NYC are year round - Club Cruises, grill nights as well as social events through out the year.   The Mitchell Regatta and Block Island weekends round out our calendar and keep the NYC house alive.
