Racing
Racing
There are three categories of racing at Newport Yacht Club:
Onshore
The onshore races include One Design and Cruising Classes. They are administered by the Regatta Committee, and have weekly series races on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings for primarily One Design and Cruising respectively. The Regatta Committee also runs special Regattas and supports other yacht clubs in their events.
Offshore
The offshore races include the Bermuda 1-2 (on odd number years), the Offshore 160 (on even number years), the Solo/Twin (every year) and the Mitchell Races to Block Island (Memorial Day and Columbas Day). They are run by the Offshore Committee.
Frostbite
Frostbite racing is every Sunday Afternoon in the winter, starting New Years day and continuning until mid April. It is sailed in the club's N10s (Turnabouts) and is run by the Frostbite Committee.
